Get Involved!

Join the NDP:

As a member of CCMV NDP, you will be kept up to date on issues affecting all of us and be able to get involved and help us make our community aware of just what a difference a strong united group of NDPers can make in the everyday life of this community. As a member of the local group you automatically become a member of both the Provincial and Federal party. You will be receiving information on the party’s stand on issues that can only be gained by becoming a member. You will be able to make your concerns known to the party in a timely fashion.

Membership for the NDP Federal Riding Association can be secured in one of two ways:

Membership Fee Payment Options:

  • Hassle-free monthly – Your membership fees will be included in a monthly contribution by chequing account or credit card. Your membership will be renewed automatically every year. The minimum monthly contribution is $5. The minimum monthly contribution for NDP membership is $5.00 per month.
  • One-time – Pay your membership fee by credit card right now using our secure payment server.

Donate:

Registered members of the NDP party also have the option to increase their monthly membership contributions to provide donations if they would like, rather than making separate donation payments.

You can choose to donate with your credit card, or through your chequing account. You have complete control over your donation, which you can change or cancel at any time.

Still have questions? Send us an email and we will do what we can to help.

Limitations on Donations:

As of January 1, 2007, new rules for political contributions under the Canada Elections Act came into force:

  • only citizens and permanent residents of Canada can make political donations to registered parties, registered electoral district associations, candidates, nomination contestants and leadership contestants.
  • Corporations, trade unions and unincorporated associations may no longer make political donations to candidates, registered electoral district associations or nomination contestants of registered parties.
  • Contribution limits from individuals are now:
    1. no more than $1,100* in any calendar year to each registered political party
    2. no more than $1,100* in total in any calendar year to the various entities of each registered political party (registered associations, nomination contestants and candidates)
    3. no more than $1,100* to each independent candidate for a particular election
    4. no more than $1,100* in total to the leadership contestants in a particular leadership contest

Tax Credits:

If you contribute to a registered federal political party, you will receive a tax credit which is deducted from your federal tax payable.

A federal contribution can be claimed by either spouse, but one contribution receipt cannot be split between spouses. If you have a spouse and together wish to contribute more than $400 in one year to the same party, it is beneficial to make two separate contributions, for greater flexibility in maximizing available tax credits.

There is no federal tax credit for contributions exceeding $1,275.

Volunteer:

Would you like to volunteer with the next election campaign, when the time comes? There is something for everyone when it comes to getting an election campaign underway and well on its way! Whether you might be intersted in posting signs, doing some research, manning the phones and calls to generate supports, or even going door to door with the candidate and special guests (such as successful NDP MPs from other constituencies), we’d be happy to have you join us and contribute in whatever way you feel you might be able to. To let us know you’re interested in volunteering in the next election, send us an email and let us know how you’d like to help!
